Would a Parlor guitar be a guitar you would be interested in if you already had 2 or 3 other guitars?

New Breedlove Parlor due in a few months

Post by NW Harry on Thu Aug 04, 2011 3:55 pm

I saw this video on Preimer Guitar website that describes a new model guitar Breedlove is planning to produce this fall. Looks quite interesting to me as I think it would be a great fingerpicking guitar. Hope the street price is less than $1000!

I don't get it, is it a BREEDLOVE? The name on the case didn't look like Breedlove. Why are they changing the bridge and the headstock?

I found out today the reason Breedlove changed to a different headstock shape; they wanted (required?) to be different than the Martin style. As for this being labeled a Breedlove Parlor, that is my understanding. However, I do NOT believe they have made a final decision as to actually manufacturing them. This one is more "concept" guitar than an actual prototype. Personally, I hope they make a Parlor guitar.

The new head stock looks nice for my taste, it is more marketable since some folks deplored the old one. Personally, I loved it. That parlor has no plastic and is 100% sold wood. I bet she comes in over $2000.00. She looks quite sexy and traditional to me. Maybe over $2500.00. It is strictly a prototype and therefore the case was not even likely cared about, just thrown in there for the show. They prolly don't have a case spec'd out yet by the maker (I forget their name off the top). Remember, a lot of traditional Breedlove concepts were in the end, not necessarily, profitable; that is probably at the top of the Two Old Hippies list. They do not seem like they let much grass grow under their feet. Bedell and the Hippies are likely sharp as a tack.
