Me Back in the Day
I am moving stuff (again, still) and found this pic Jennifer had. It's me back in the day with my Tele. I posted pics of it on the old forum if you remember. This would have been around 1984 or so. I guess I look a little different now, and of course older. I've shown the pic to a couple of people that didnt know me then, and they didnt know who it was! Kinda makes me sad, 'cause I remember me!
Anyway, in the pic I am playing with one of the best Blues bass players in Chicago at the time. He had some success nationally, but I'll let you try and figure out who he is. His first name is John. This was the second or third generation of my band "Bad Habits". You cant see the harmonica player (who had his leg in a cast) or the drummer, Phil Cottosman. Phil is one of those guy's that make drums musical. He's so good and still playing. Quite the ladies man (back then anyway). Notice the Lab Series L5 amplifier? It was one of the first "modeling" amps available. Of course I have always been a electronics freak (still am) so I had to have one. It took me eight gigs to pay for it. I sold it when Seymour Duncan came out with the "Convertible" amp. Tube modules you could swap out for different sounds and tone. That one I still have.

You're right! That's NOT you! That's only a kid!
Oh well, we all started out as kids didn't we?

Hey Tele great picture but you forgot to shave that day.
Love the shag carpet, such a beautiful shade of orange.

Thanks ffinke! I'm still a kid. Just ask jennifer.................
Dodger-after reading your post, I had to check the net to see when these amps were first made. I bought it the minute it came out. So it was probably 77 or 78. Orange? Sometimes it good to be colorblind.

Mando's right, and if I dont miss my guess you're still looking like Billy Gibbons.
I didnt forget wisenhiemer! I was always meticulous about keeping it trimmed short. I was almost thirty in that pic. Keep it up snack shack! I went 10 rounds with Jack Dempsey!

Not anymore, been keeping the beard much shorter last year or so and then had a beard trimming incident the night of a big dinner party for Jen's work with the big wigs at Fogo de Chao. For what it is worth, do not use a new trimmer for the first time before a big event. Just saying. Although by the end of the great meal at Fogo and the wine and cognac at the end I didn't care anymore.
Hmm...`77 or `78 would have put Dempsey at about 82 or 83 years old. He must have felt sorry for you to let it go 10 rounds. < grin >

Re: Me Back in the Day
This forum software is kind of funky. Last two posts appear to be bold type for some reason. I know I didn't intend that. Weird.

Yeah, and he still kicked my but. I think my year is wrong though. I wasnt near thirty in 78. 88 maybe.
Jennifer and I had dinner at the Fogo de Chao here in Chi-Town a couple of months ago. But I didnt have any shaving accidents though. I enjoyed the wine and cognac as well.

Mark my words Trevor. One day you will wake up and guess what? You're old! And some young guy who knows it all is gonna say: "You old farts are funny!" Payback. < grin >

Speaking of for sale...Rod--Good luck on the Cascade sale. I saw the ad re-appear on the Mandolin Cafe this evening. Someone is going to get one very nice Mandolin.
